Tum kitnay jootay pakrogay
Har Ghar say Jootay niklengay
Jab tak Sooraj Chaand Raheyga
Bhutto tu badnaam rahayga
By the way the original version is even more interesting “Har Ghar say Bhutto niklayga” speaking volumes about bhutto’s character!!!!
And speaking about this democratic government’s character is useless as the “Awam” is a direct witness to all of it.
Only yesterday when we were half way through celebrating the long long awaited Shoe-cide attack on our beloved “Bhutto Zardaari”, his Jayalas were busy in attacking the cable operators, newspapers vendors and geo’s transmissions were also blocked in many areas. So much for the promises of Jamhooriyat and freedom of journalism.
I am not a die hard of fan of this government but I still advocate the respect of a person as a president, but since this guy is shameless to the lowest point so I’m very happy with Mr Shameem. Way to go man..You are a hero (Thumbs Up).
So yes celebrate, I know there is not much to celebrate though, with all the rivers raging in the country. But this news is definitely worth a cheers.

Our Today’s Lunch Nama
Today was nothing special just the routine day. Dear hubby came home for lunch at the usual hour and we sat down for a simple lunch of karhi pakoras with the Khabar nama on. Since we are Pakistanis living abroad, we tune in to the local news channels to get a feel of life back at home. So we tuned in to the channel whose claim to fame is Har Khabar Par Nazar. And wow what a keen nazar they have, we had to really appreciate it ( by leaving our lunch table in disgust).
No no no no, it was not that toilet cleaning commercial that managed to get us puke every time they show dirty toilet bowls with actual stains, nor was it any common bomb blast site (which unfortunately is getting very common these days, maybe only yesterday we saw two in Lahore).
It was their actual primetime news which caught us off guard. First they showed us the report of two minors being wed in Quetta, and the groom (only a 10 year old kid) was actually being arrested for getting married, ( I wonder if he really knows what was he doing, while saying his Qubool Hais). The poor kid was arrested by two officers and was crying and putting up tantrums (just like any other normal kid would) in his local language, but the police wallahs were so sincere in their duty they hauled him up in the van.
We were only discussing the way they treated an innocent little kid, when they threw another (heart) breaking news on us. A woman (supposedly) brutally murdered by her husband who was actually a doctor. They gave us the story in such a pitiful tone and repeatedly showed pics of their marriage and their innocent little children crying. This report brought us near to tears. And we started to discuss the sorry state of affairs in our country and the even sorrier state of news programs.
Only last night a strange story was being reported on the same news channel about some pervert who seduced a girl first by claiming her to be his muun bolii behen!! And then later drugged her cold drink and took some pics to black mail her. The story goes on and on with the details of how he manages to find her even after her marriage and managed to show those pics to her husband who divorced her. We had to switch the channel to maintain our saneness so God only knows the fate of that muu bolii behen :S
Yeah so back to today’s lunch I mean news. And when we thought our society (of doctors) can’t go any further down with the scandals when they showed us another heart aching news of some medical treatment gone very wrong. The doctor gave some eye drops to the girl, which took out her eyes. Yes these were the explicit words of the newscaster and thankfully they were prudent enough to censor her eyes while showing her scream in pain.
This was enough for us to switch the channel off and not to mention leave the table in silence!!!
I have only one question in mind since then, where is media etiquette of showing explicit content. And is this the only news left for us to bear on tv about people dying in distress, ladies being seduced and nurses being raped by doctors??? As if the chaos spread in northern areas is not enough, the media tends to spread more anxiety by highlighting issues in an imprudent manner. Or it goes on making issues out of non-issues and then spreading with big red breaking news headlines, and not to mention the suspense filled track in the background. The child marriages and mistreatments of doctors have been an issue ever since but the way they spread it, a normal average viewer like us is forced to think that this is the end of times where doom’s lurking in every corner of our streets. Our media should start being sensible now, there is already enough destruction going on in our country, no need to add sensationalism to their news.
And yes, I am still thinking what to have for dinner tonight, which would help dissolve the bitter taste of lunch..:)
